OCTA
THEATRE OF THE YEAR AWARD
Many
Oklahoma Community Theatres, who are members of the Oklahoma Community Theatre
Association, make outstanding contributions to their community
that are within the scope and mission of OCTA. To honor the OCTA 20th
Anniversary, the 1989 Board of Directors elected to establish an award to go to
the Theatre that had made the biggest impact upon their community. A
special name such as “OCTATOY” had not been
approved by the deadline for submission of nominations, so the name was simply “OCTA
THEATRE OF THE YEAR”.
The Theatre of the Year must have must have had a continuous
production season for several years with at least two productions each year.
The theatre must have an elected Board of Directors. The Nomination
should include an outline of the theatres activities over the past years,
should note any growth or positive change in the organization, the contribution
to the local community, and major achievements/projects completed in the past.
This award need not be given in years when nominations for a
worthy candidate are not received. Nominees should be members of OCTA.
The inscription for this award was approved by the OCTA Board
of Directors in 1989, to read as follows:
