OCTAVISION AWARD
This
award was established to honor those Oklahoma Community Theatres who had a
vision for their theatre and accomplished the completion of
this established goal in the most successful manner, with
consideration of the difficulty and appropriateness of the goal and the means
of accomplishing it.
The theatre nominated must meet the following criteria.
a. Establish
a goal, such as remodeling, converting a building, burning a mortgage, going
from community to nonprofit professional.
b. The
goal must have been successfully completed when the theatre is nominated.
c. The
theatre must have been an OCTA member in the previous membership year.
This award was approved to be given on even-numbered years
rather on the Festival year. This award would be given only if a suitable
nomination was received. The award was approved by the 1988-1989 Board of
Directors with the first award to be given in
1990.
The first recipient of this award was
the Shawnee Little Theatre, Shawnee,
Oklahoma. Shawnee Little
Theatre has been in existence for many years, had been renovated through the
process of a very rigid strategic plan. It was not only an excellent
community theatre, but it shared theatre visions
with the Oklahoma Baptist University Drama Department and St.
Gregory University Drama Department.
The inscription for this award was approved by the OCTA Board
of Directors in 1989 to read as follows:
