Oklahoma CityJimmy Vaughn has been associated with community and professional theatre as a volunteer or an administrator since the days when he attended the Mummers Theatre starting in 1973. Then he attended AACTFest and the IATA Convention in OKC in 1975. This experience encouraged him to start his first community volunteer work in 1976, chairing first night parties at Oklahoma Theatre Center, In 197, he become the Tour Director at OTC for three years. His first volunteer duties for OCTA was in 1979 to Chair the Registration desk for OCTAFest at OTC and then the Regional Festival at Tulsa Theatre. In 1985 he become involved with Southwest Theatre Association and with the American Community Theatre Association.
He has served in every position except Treasurer for OCTA, being President in 1988-1989. He served SWTA as OCTA Representative, Conference Chair and then become the Executive Director for 15 years. He served on the AACT Board as Member-at-Large, VP of Membership, and Secretary. He was a USA Representative to IATA at the 1985 World Conference in Monaco.
He founded the Volunteer Association for Carpenter Square Theatre; served as President of Volunteers at Stage Center; the Lyric Guild, serving as the Festival of Trees Chair in 1996.
Vaughn continues to be active in OCTA. He assists non-profits with Bylaws and other concerns since becoming a Parliamentarian. He maintains an office as “Consultant for Non-Profits.”
He has been presented all of the OCTA awards, including Hall of Honor. He is a member of the College of Fellows in SWTA and AACT. Among the many honors he has received, he is proud of his membership in Who’s Who in Entertainment, Who’s Who Registry of Business Leaders, and Who’s Who in the World./
He served on Board of Directors for Central Oklahoma Neighborhood Alliance. He remains active in the Miller Neighborhood, Trolley Tract Coalition, and the NW 10 Street Pony Trails. He chairs several committees and is active in the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
